Thahadoor Linux User Group - Dharmapuri

Dreams come true today June 30 2010

Dreams is all about Linux User Group at Dharamapuri. It was pending for last 5 years. Today i made this by initiating the Linux User Group mailing list for Thahadoor. Thahadoor is an ancient name of current Dharmapuri. Dharmapuri is a district of Tamil Nadu, India.

I have discussed about this with my Linux Guru, Mr. Ganesan Arasanatham Subbarayan. Who is taught me about Linux and its internals and he is running his won company and created a solution for POS that was used in retail shops of Dharmapuri and near by districts. Thank You Very much Sir for your contribution. He brought me up in the FOSS world.

And also discussed few months back with Mr.Chinnasamy V who is my childwood friend and also we shared more knowledge on Linux and FOSS and Mr. Bala who is also FOSS enthusiast from TCE, Madurai and

Now we began the mailing list for Dharmapuri Linux User Group. But we need a name to represent ourselves. Then i gone through footprints on the internet. In wiki page Dharmapuri referred in two ancient names "Thagadoor or Tagadur". Then I discussed about this in Ubuntu Tamil mailing list and also with My Linux Guru Mr. Ganesan. The suggested name for Dharmapuri Linux User Group by all is "Thahadoorlug".

Today June 30 2010, Dharmaprui Linux User Group baby born and we named as "ThahadoorLUG"

Thahadoorlug mailing list created under www.yavarkkum.org domain.

Thanks Mr. Amachu the co-founder of an Non-Profit Organization "YAVARKKUM" for Tamil Computing and hosting our Thahadoorlug mailing list in www.yavarkkum.org domain.

how to mount .iso files manually on ubuntu-9.10-karmic

what is iso image??

It is a compressed archive file that includes all the data files. It is defined by International Standard for Organisation(ISO). It has ".iso" file extension and the same image file can be burned on CD/DVD's

How to mount ISO file on my Ubuntu 9.10 Linux / Other Linux box's ??

On recent ubuntu linux mounts iso files automatically when u double click the .iso files. Otherwise you can mount iso manually.

$ sudo mount -o loop <ISO file path> <mount point>

How to un mount ??

$ sudo umount <mount point>

When you are trying to unmount you will often get some errors like this:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
arun@arun-laptop:/mnt$ sudo umount /mnt/
umount: /mnt: device is busy.
        (In some cases useful info about processes that use
         the device is found by lsof(8) or fuser(1))
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Check whether you are still accessing the mount point.If so come out of that directory, then try un mounting the mount directory.

OR

Here iso file being mounted as "loopback device". you can identify the mount point using " $ mount" command

i.e. dev/loop0 on /mnt type iso9660 (rw)

unmount it using this command, here loop[1-9]
$ sudo umount /dev/loop0
